How to Use This Tax Refund Estimator

- Enter your income (wages, 1099s, capital gains, interest, etc.).
- Add any adjustments (IRA contributions, student loan interest, etc.).
- Choose whether you want to use the standard deduction or enter itemized deductions (mortgage interest, real estate tax, charity, car loan interest, etc.).
- Enter your children, child & dependent care expenses, and other credits.
- Add your federal and state tax withheld from your W-2s/1099s and select your state.
- Click “Estimate My Refund” to see an approximate refund or balance due.
What This Estimator Looks At
- Wages and self-employment income.
- Short-term & long-term capital gains (simplified), 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, and taxable government income.
- Adjustments to income, including IRA contributions and student loan interest (capped at $2,500).
